HARTLAND, VERMONT

Hartland, VT's first bank was First Twin-State Bank, which opened in the late 1970s. In 1991, the First Twin State merged with Proctor Bank and became Green Mountain Bank. Mascoma Bank purchased Green Mountain in 1996 and operated the Hartland branch in the original building until 2013. The bank moved temporarily into an on-site trailer while DEW Construction built the modern facility we enjoy today.

A little extra history about the town of Hartland: Hartland originally was named Hertford. In 1782, the Vermont Legislature changed it to Hartland to avoid confusion with Hertford and Hartford, adjoining towns.
