CHELSEA, VERMONT

There has been a bank in Chelsea, Vermont, since November 3, 1827, when the Bank of Orange County opened in the brick building on VT Route 110, next to the Masonic Temple. In 1873, it became First National Bank of Chelsea. Mascoma Bank’s Chelsea branch is located at the intersection of routes 110 and 113.

In 1861 not only was Chelsea home to the Orange County Savings Bank, the bank had its own currency!
