WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, VERMONT, MAPLE ST

In 1886, the First National Bank of White River Junction was located on the second floor of the Smith & Son Block on North Main Street in White River Junction, Vermont.

In 1892, First National transferred to a new building at the corner of South Main and Gates Street.

In 1964, an ice jam destroyed the bridge over the White River. First National set up a mobile office on Maple Street to serve customers who couldn’t make it to the main branch. The concept worked so well, a permanent branch was built there. Then, on December 9, 1964, the first drive-up bank in Vermont opened beside St. Johnsbury Trucking.

This location changed hands over the years until Mascoma Bank purchases Green Mountain Bank in 1996 and thus acquired the branch on Maple Street.
